I learned charcoal drawing in college and really loved it.  I haven't done any in a long time, probably because it's so darned messy.  But it's also really fun.  So I decided to get back into it only this time I wanted to add some color and combined watercolors along with it.  It came out pretty darned neat!  Do you recognize this cat?
This is my first watercolor drawing.  It's done on postcard material especially made for watercolor paint.  I got the idea from my friend, Donna, who sent us a postcard with a watercolor she did of a range in Montana.
As you can see, this is a Canada Goose.  It's taken from a photograph I took at Montezuma Wildlife Refuge in Montezuma, New York along the NY State Thruway.

Pencil Drawing of Opal Whitely
Who is Opal Whitely?
I was putting our dogs out one late winter day when Stormy, our fat brat cat, snuck out.  This is usually not a big deal because he doesn't stray far in winter.  (He's an indoor cat.)  Well, he proceeded to go out onto the snow and into the woods!  I watched him while the dogs were taking care of their business, to keep an eye on him.  As our one dog, Maggie, was jogging back in, Stormy looked like he was headed back in, too, as if he didn't want to be left out there alone.  I cracked right up when I watched him scoot carefully in, (the snow was sort of unsteady at that time.)  From a distance, I couldn't see much definition to him, just this fat blob. LOL.  This is a drawing of him I did afterwards.
