The Great Snoopynut
Bathroom Remodel 2005
As you look at these pictures, keep in mind this was a project 10 years in the making. Also keep in mind that being a bathroom, it was hard to get good pictures because of the narrowness of it.
On the left are some pictures of the old bathroom, probably about 26 years old. I say that because we found some papers inside the wall that were dated 1979. The house itself was built in 1971.
Whoever remodeled this must have been out of their mind. There were two different designs of wallpaper and yet a third entirely different design on the floor. All combined to make for a dizzy experience, something you don't really need first thing in the morning.
And of course, on the right are the new-improved Snoopynut bathroom pictures.
The Two Different Wallpapers
I'm not saying these designs are awful, just awful together.
The wallpaper was peeling in different spots:
The faucet at the tiny sink was corroding. You can see wallpaper peel in this pic, too:
The caulk around the shower was pretty nasty and in need of replacing:
(We had already started demolition in this picture so try and ignore that unfinished wall on the left.)
Tiny vanity, medicine cabinet and sink area:
Same thing but from the doorway:
We learned a new word when we were doing this remodeling: overjohn. Hmm. That's the thing over the john, in case you hadn't already figured that out.
They had created this closet from an area that used to have a door leading out into the living room and made it, for the most part, inaccessible. This view is from inside the bathroom towards the doorway:
And now, an overall view from the hallway:
The Snoopynut prefers clean, uncomplicated lines and color so the walls were painted a cheerful yellow to match the cute Jenny Faw Cats & Dogs bathroom set we bought at Penney's a year ago or so. We've since found out it's considered a children's set but we wondered what lunatic would create a set for children that included a ceramic trash can as well as ceramic toothbrush holder, soap dishes, and soap dispenser? Not to mention the rugs that come with the set are flammable. Oh, well. We're kids at heart anyway.
Here's the little graphical design on the computer that I made before we did the bathroom. I think it matches pretty well with how it turned out:
The new sink(s). We got a large vanity with two sinks.
The new shower curtain with Jenny Faw design. This picture was taken in the mirror because it was difficult to get the whole thing from straight on. By the way, we moved the vanity to where the old inaccessible closet was and put a large mirrored door closet where the small vanity used to be.
Vanity in new location. View from hallway:
New mirrored door closet. This view is from inside the bathroom facing the door, (bathrobes hanging on it):
Overall view from hallway:
Oh, can't forget the cute clock we got on eBay:
So, in closing, the Great Snoopynut Bathroom Remodel was a success! What do you think?
