"DAISY"
Aka: Daze, Sniglet, Snog, Snazy
January 1985 - August 1, 2003

Daisy was the first dog we got after we were married in 1982.  She was born about January of 1985 and we rescued her from the local SPCA in Charleston, South Carolina six months later.  Up until then, we hadn't been allowed to have pets where we lived and now we had our own trailer and wanted to get one.  We were young and unknowlegable about how to train a dog so Daisy was our test case, poor thing.  Herb left for sea duty shortly after we got Daisy so it was up to me to figure this little puppy out.  Daisy was as unsure about the situation as I was.  She went through a lot before I discovered a fantastic book called "No More Bad Dogs" by Barbara Woodhouse, which I would highly recommend to anyone getting a dog for the first time.  I wish I'd have gotten it sooner but you know how it is, you live & you learn.  Poor Daze, she had to be the guinea pig!  She was a great dog and we really had a lot of fun with her when she was growing up.  We used to take her out in our boat and swim in the warm, shallow waters of the Edisto River and camping at Santee State Park near Columbia.

Daisy celebrated her 18th birthday in January, 2003.   As she got older the past few years, she developed a few health problems and finally got to the point where we felt she was no longer leading a quality life.  She was euthanized on August 1, 2003.  It was a milestone for us with her being our first dog.  She taught us a lot and we are very grateful God let us share her life for 18 years.  We know she is in Heaven now, all healthy and happy and probably running around like a booby with Pepsi.  We'll miss you, Daisy, and we loved you very much.

Here she is in 1995 when we first started seeing signs of age in her.  She started to snooze very deeply!
