"MAGGIE"

We had been halfheartedly looking for a pal for Ellie when Maggie came along. We considered Bear -- too big. We also had looked at a really neat little fellow by the name of Casey. He was great but he didn't seem to make an impression on the one we were getting him for in the first place -- Ellie. At the same time we were doing this, we had an ongoing situation occuring right in our neighborhood and Maggie was in the middle of it. See, Ellie and I take walks down the road to the nearest intersection and turn around. Apparently, over the winter we got some new neighbors and they had a beautiful Golden Retriever-Collie mix dog named Maggie who loved to come out and greet us...off the leash with no kind of tie-out. The first time it happened, the neighbors called her back after a minute or two. The second time, I tried to get her to go back on her own because the neighbors weren't supervising her. Again, allowed to roam free and this was an intersection of a 55 mph road. I brought her back to her house after being unable to get her to stay on her property and not follow us. I told the guy he really ought to have her tied up because she was going to get killed being able to run around like that. Third time unlucky for neighbors because I'd had enough and just let her follow me home. I put her in our pen with Ellie and called the dog warden. They came out the next day to get her and then tried to get ahold of the owners. After several tries, they did, and we were told they didn't want her back. And that's how Maggie joined the Snoopynuts, the lucky dog!
Now Maggie is one great little dog and anyone who had her in their home is completely wacked for not having appreciated her! She's not only beautiful but smart, friendly, loving and has really gotten to be a pal to Ellie like we wanted. They play until they are just pooped. She is also a very well-behaved little pooch, you just can't ask for more than that! We love her to pieces!!
